What is the measurable positive impact from implementing ESG?

Ludovic is leading CBRE's efforts for Continental Europe around ESG, corporate social responsibility as well as anything that has to do with sustainability. He is very supportive for the local teams in the different countries and has structured our services in a manner that helps us support our clients to the highest extend. He has also made a lot of effort for our internal sustainability goals and is really a central part for CBRE's ESG.
We have grown our teams in 2023 from 190 to 270 people within ESG and we have managed to be very succesful with supporting many different clients and realizing a high sustainability impact in many projects.

What kind of technology or innovations does the nominee implement regarding ESG?

We have made a partnership with an ESG platform that is being implemented to all of our Property Management clients. He has led the efforts to create a lot of content that can be used by the local teams, such as marketing/pitching material, research topics in collaboration with our research team (such as the impact of ESG on the value of buildings), monthly meetings where we share experiences and new services, new services such as CSRD support or EU taxonomy screenings, we have a new energy team centrally that leads the energy consultancy efforts and much more.

Ludovic has supported local teams in the implementation of methodologies, frameworks, tools and other supporting materials guarantying consistency within teams and for organization working in multiple locations. As an example of the innovative approach we have CBRE’s mapping tool that provides a general overview of the risks and opportunities that are related to European Regulation through the lens of energy and carbon, as well as potential impact on real estate decision-making (https://www.cbre.com/insights/articles/sustainability-legislation).

How does the nominee implement ESG at a bigger scale?

ESG is being implemented centrally and then adjusted to the local teams. We have a new energy team that leads all the energy products, we have now also an ESG lead per line of business (since 2023) and these are again leading the ESG efforts forward. We can see that structuring ESG into smaller groups and initiatives has been very succesful and is the best way to make it possible to develop the services.

Trough the coordination of ESG services within Pan European organizations in areas such as ESG Strategy, Decarbonization or Taxonomy alignment. Some of the examples are the work developed for: ZURICH Multiple Funds for ESG Strategy Establishment; TESLA Pan-EU Portfolio Approach - European Regulation Mapping; PIMCO Pan-EU Preferred Advisor - ESG Due Diligence; BNP Paribas Real Estate Healthcare ESG Audit developed in 5 countries, 57 assets.

How does the nominee show leadership and help the industry to move forward?

Ludovic is in constant dialoge with the CSO of CBRE and leads all the central efforts regarding ESG and sustainability. As mentioned there are a lot of initiatives from his side such as monthly meetings about ESG, new services being implemented and developed, he takes into account the differences between the countries and adjusts the services accordingly. We have grown our ESG team tremendously within one year and our clients are coming back as they are very happy to have one provider for several countries for their ESG efforts.

Ludovic has directly coordinated CBRE European projects insuring that ESG services are consistent, aligned with ESG best practices and regulations and supporting local teams providing quality services. He has been in close contact with teams and insure that they have the needed support. Regular meetings are developed for follow up on global projects and to share lessons learned. Regular ESG workshops are also organized and teams are invited to share their projects and examples.
As mentioned above, CBRE ESG area has grown significantly in last years, making CBRE a leading organization for ESG services in Real Estate and helping the Real Estate sector responding to ESG challenges.
