What is the measurable positive impact from implementing ESG?

We have identified building technology as a powerful lever to address sustainability challenges and take the first step towards more climate-friendly buildings. Our AI-based cloud platform collects real-time operational data from a building, integrates external data like weather forcasts, identifies malfunctions and provides clear recommendations to optimize operations according to actual demand. This enables building owners and operators to meet the requirements of the ESG framework in multiple ways:

Improved energy efficiency and reduced carbon footprint (Environmental):
The platform enables significant reductions of up to 40 % in energy consumption, CO2 emissions and operating costs by identifying inefficiencies in building services equipment. Predictive control algorithms enables active management of on-demand resources such as heat and power. In the context of demand-side management, this strategy has the potential to significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Tenant wellbeing and engagement (Social):
Optimizing building temperature and indoor air quality with aedifion improves occupant health, safety and comfort in line with social sustainability objectives under the ESG and CSRD frameworks. We can make this wellbeing status measurable and available as a key indicator through our front-end. In addition, real-time data from our cloud platform is essential to drive transparency and tenant engagement.

Transparency and reporting (Governmental):
Providing real-time data through the use of our cloud platform is crucial for sustainability reporting and meeting the disclosure requirements of the EU Taxonomy and SFDR frameworks. We enable owners to take full control of their portfolio and maximize the sustainability potential of their assets, not only in terms of environmental aspects, but also in terms of social and governance parameters.

What is the measurable positive impact from implementing ESG?

We take into account the following environmental impacts:

1- Extension of product lifespan: By avoiding the purchase of new products, we spread the impact of their production over a longer period, reducing CO2 emissions associated with their manufacturing.

2- Recycling and reuse of materials: When materials are recycled or reused, we contribute positively to reducing the use of new raw materials and minimize negative impacts associated with landfilling or incineration.

Mökki has developed a model for measuring environmental impact in terms of equivalent CO2 savings, based on data from ADEME (French Government Agency for Ecological Transition) and the QuantiGES method. Our model has also been reviewed and validated by INEC (National Institute for Circular Economy) and ABC (Carbon Balance Association).

Please consider two key environmental benefits of our solution, expressed in figures:

Potential savings of up to 160 kg of equivalent CO2 by giving new life to 10 pieces of clothing.
Potential savings of up to 155 kg of equivalent CO2 by giving new life to 1 electronic item.
We reallocate 100% of our items: 60% are donated, 25% are resold, and 15% are recycled.

What is the measurable positive impact from implementing ESG?

SAM is the unique technology that converts fibre waste streams into new material panels, facilitating new ways to design and produce products, such as furniture, interior design and displays or booths.

SAM panels are lighter, stronger, and healthier (no VOC’s, no toxic additives, clean indoor climate) than traditional MDF, particleboard or multiplex. Solely using water, heat and pressure, our technology can convert almost any type of cellulose fibers into panels and products. After usage, the fibers can be again and again converted into new materials and applications at our SAM Factories.
By upcycling used cellulose feedstock, we turn waste, its related management costs and negative environmental impact into value. For instance, spent brewer’s grains become marketing displays and rice paddy straw becomes a furniture panel. After that use cycle, it can become signage, a table top, and so on.

The technology enables companies and organisations to achieve their circular economy ambitions. Centered around an SAM Factory and its output, together with our partners, we co-create business models and cases that are driven by local market demand and available materials and applications. We facilitate in co-creating and collaborating to build the needed CE ecosystems and have a positive impact on ecology, equity, economy.

SAM is a real example of a company which is needed to be able to hit the 2030/2050 goals!

What is the measurable positive impact from implementing ESG?

Spaceflow’s Community solution has a measurable impact on community in buildings, which in turn impacts Social. Through the Tenant Satisfaction Score and automated polls, everyone has a voice to make a difference in the built environment without discrimination. Long term, the Spaceflow Community solution helps create and foster a people-focused community to add value to tenants’ lives through Polls, Events, Groups, and more.

The Spaceflow platform automates and digitalizes documentation and processes to positively impact the tenant experience, make all communication transparent, and empower the community in any building to thrive.

In addition, Spaceflow’s smart metering integrations have an impact on Environmental. Spaceflow makes it possible to show water, electricity, and heating consumption data in the Spaceflow app, complemented by energy-saving tips & tricks. It’s also possible to monitor and improve indoor air quality for better wellbeing.

This data is available for both residents and property owners to reduce energy waste, CO2 emissions, and operational inefficiency, as well as to augment data transparency and reporting.
